Vigil For Iraq Moratorium

12/21/2007 4:00pm -@6:00pm
Chelsea Parade, In front of N.F.A., Norwich, CT US

Sponsored by

We will hold a vigil with peaceful people attending who want the war in Iraq to end NOW. Signs/Posters welcome.

With the news now that in August our government knew Iran had scrapped its nuclear program four (4) years ago, yet our VP & rPresident still beat the drum for more war. There has never been a better time for people to get back out into the streets and demand an end to the Iraq war, now and add NO WAR ON IRAN.

See You All At Beautiful Chelsea Parade in Norwich!

Reports, Updates, Comments

We held a vigil starting at 4 PM and the temps were below freezing with a wind chill taking the temps lower. There were about 7 of us (including a younger brother of an active duty marine and his father) This young man of about 11 understands what the war is about, of course he has an older brother he is thinking about.

We froze as cars whizzed by doing their last minute holiday shopping perhaps, or just going home. There were quite a few beeps, and a lot of waves and thumbs up.

A local access TV person stopped by and inquired about what we were doing, then invited Paul & I to come on the show and talk about the Moratorium and its goals. We will post when we set this up and know its air date.

We had hoped for a large turn out as a lot more people had become aware of our gathering on the third Friday. Maybe next month.

I am getting emails from a lot of the peace groups that the 15 of March (5th YEAR OF THIS INSANE WAR) there will be a march on DC. I sure hope that all of us across the nation who participate in the Moratorium can go to DC on the 15th along with many more Americans. We must be heard, we must use our critical mass to end this war.

The US should have a New Year’s Resolution that resolves to work for peace in 2008 and beyond, no more war.
