Reports, Updates, Comments
Our February vigil was another lively event. David made a set of white-on-black signs that said “Peace” on one side and words such as “Imagine,” “Teach,” “Learn,” and “Embrace” on the other side.

Kevin brought a sign that read, “Peace for President,” which seems appropriate during this campaign season.

The San Francisco Bay Iraq Moratorium Campaign provided additional signs, ribbons, and flyers. We also had two large banners. We brought recorded music, which included peace standards such as “Where Have All the Flowers Gone” and “Blowing in the Wind” as well as more recent songs including Tom Paxton’s “George W. Told the Nation” and Billy Bragg’s “Bush War Blues.” We were soon joined by four musicians—Pete, James, Marko, and a musician who wants to remain anonymous—and were accompanied by live music for the remainder of our vigil.

We had our usual candles and cookies for our participants. Passers-by were enthusiastic—many honked, waved, or flashed peace signs. We will be back this month—we are disappointed that the war is going into its fifth year, and want to encourage everyone to stand up and publicly oppose the war by participating in as many anti-war events as possible.
